Farmstart: Explorer Course

Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012 at 10 Carden Street, Guelph

Over 12 hours and one day of farm tours, the Explorer course takes a learner-centered approach to exploring agriculture as a career. As a participant in the course, you will be guided through an in depth self-assessment process, designed to help you identify the specific aptitudes, interests, skills and resources that you can bring to a new farm business. You will receive support through the process of researching opportunities in agriculture. And you will meet other serious gardeners, livestock enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs who are also asking themselves, “Is starting an agricultural business right for me?”

When: Feb 8, 15, 29 & March 7 2012 (Snow Day: March 14th)
6:30 to 9:30 pm
Farm Tour / Panel: February 25th  (Snow Day February 26th)

Admission Price: $325 (+HST) /person or $450 (+HST) for two people from the same “farm dream” (ex: family, business partners)

Where to buy tickets: Payment for the course is done by credit card online (PayPal) or by cheque and will be arranged once an application form has been submitted (see website).

Grow Your Business: Learn Email and Social Media Marketing

This half-day event will focus on how you can grow your business using email marketing and social media. The sessions will focus on 'best practices' - what makes great content, how to encourage people to connect and how to maximize the power of online relationships. We will also talk about the coming new Canadian spam legislation and the opportunity that has evolved from this. Come see how other organizations combine email marketing and social media marketing to drive more business.
